Stroud Maternity Unit Mother & Baby Singing
Singing for pregnant women, new mums and babies!
THURSDAY MORNINGS in STROUD:
10am – 10.55am – Stroud Valley Scout Hut, Chapel Lane
(for babies 4-12 months & their parents) – £4 for the session.
11.15am – 12.15pm – Stroud Maternity Unit, Stroud Hospital
(for new mothers & babies 0-4 months & pregnant women) – Free.
This Maternity Unit session is Free to attend as it’s kindly funded by The League Of Friends.
These are both drop-in sessions – the growing repertoire of songs are repeated weekly or regularly enough so that once you learn them they are easy to refresh each week during the sessions. They will become part of the sound-track to your babies early years. The songs will soon become ingrained so they are easy to remember any time you feel like singing with your baby and anytime you need a soothing and comforting familiar lullaby to ease both parent and child.
MamaSings and the Maternity Unit meet every Thursday during school term time – including some school half terms. Sessions may also run during the longer school holidays but please check before heading out for sessions during school holidays & half terms.
Both singing groups were initially set up and run by experienced voice coach & choir leader, Eleanor Holliday in January 2017. Sophie took over leading both groups in July 2017.
Sophie is a member of the NVN – Natural Voice Network – and believes in the principle that singing is for everyone – if you have a voice, you can sing. A ‘natural voice’ is the one you were born with – unique and ready to be sung. She runs three weekly Community Choirs in Painswick, Paganhill & Cirencester. Please see her Community Choirs page for details.
