SONGS OF CHANGE ARE TAKING AN EXTENDED BREAK from their regular weekly sessions and are not currently meeting on Tuesday Evenings…please re-visit here for updates.
Sophie was the singing leader for Songs of Change between 2013 – 2018.
Songs of Change – Stroud’s peace and & protest choir – was formed in 2012 by many of the current singers and Sophie took over the singing leader role in the summer of 2013. Songs of Change provides an important vehicle for people to share their views and raise awareness of important issues they care about, locally and globally, through song.
The song repertoire is requested, suggested & selected by the whole group and the songs often have a strong, and sometimes political, message. Some songs within the Songs of Change repertoire are written & arranged by Sophie and other members of the choir.
Songs of Change often busk in Stroud Farmers Market on a Saturday to fundraise for charities such as, Refugee-Aid Stroud, GARAS and Save The Children. They attend and sing at local events, marches and demonstrations throughout the year, as and when possible.

Sophie is a member of the NVN – Natural Voice Network – and believes in the principle that singing is for everyone – if you have a voice, you can sing. A ‘natural voice’ is the one you were born with – unique and ready to be sung.
“I believe that singing with others is good for the heart, body and soul and can leave you feeling uplifted and energised. Being part of a community choir is a hugely rewarding and fun social experience.” ♫ ♩ ♬ ♪ ♫ ♩ ♬ ♪
